Shri Anil Udhavrao Diggikar,
CHAIRMAN
Shri Anil Udhavrao Diggikar is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer (Maharashtra cadre-1990) and currently posted as Chairman of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), which is India’s No.1 Container Port. JNPT, situated at Sheva in Navi Mumbai, is operating three major container terminals and handles almost 46% of India’s total cargo and 55% of the country’s major ports capacity.
Ever since taking over this role in September 2015, he has steadfastly implemented growth-led initiatives for the port in making it one of the fastest advanced ports in the country. Under his leadership, the port has introduced several ‘Digital’ & ‘Green’ plans, as part of forward making vision, to aim towards building it as one of the top 10 Ports in the world. His acumen for transport modality and deep understanding in ports foster him to lead JNPT’s current ambitious projects including- Fourth Terminal, Satellite Port, 2 Dry ports, Multi-product SEZ Port et al.
Prior to his appointment as Chairman, JNPT, he was vice Chairman & Managing Director of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Ltd (MSRDC), where he spearheaded many projects that resulted into quick outcomes.
Shri Diggikar started his career as Assistant Collector of Ratnagiri district in 1990-92, and thereafter undertook various top executive positions in Maharashtra. In 1992-94, he was given a bigger challenge as Assistant Collector of Earthquake Rehabilitation in Latur, to support and reinforce life of affected ones. After which, he was made CEO, Zilla Parishad, Nanded for 1994-96, and CEO, Zilla Parishad, Solapur for 1996-98 respectively. As Collector for Satara district during 1998-2001, Shri Diggikar implemented various need-based govt initiatives.
He undertook diverse actionable plans for respective assignments- as Commissioner for Pimpri-Chinchwad Corporation in 2001-03; as Director (Sports), Pune in 2003-04; as Director General, Maharashtra Energy Development Corporation, Pune in 2004-06; as Commissioner (Co-operation), Pune in 2006-08; as Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai in 2008-11 and as Secretary of Animal Husbandry Department, Govt of Maharashtra in 2011-14.
Shri Diggikar holds a degree of Bachelor in Civil Engineering and has undergone professional courses such as – “Quantitative Methods and Operational Research for Public Policy and Management” from IIM-Bangalore; “Advanced Courses on WTO” from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade-New Delhi, “Ethics in Public Governance” from ICCG-Panchgani, and “Leadership Development Programme” from IIM-Indore.
He is an avid reader and finds passion in sports and cultural activities.
