    Corporate Social Responsibility

    1. Activities for water conservation in Maharashtra:

    As a part of CSR activity, The Govt. of Maharashtra to undertake the JalyuktaShivar Works in drought affected Districts in Maharashtra. Subsequently, the requests were received from the District Collector of Nandurbar, Solapur, Usmanabad, Washim, Jalna and Yavatmal and appealed to release the CSR funds. The JalyuktaShivar Work includes the activities like desilting, deep CCT, widening and Deeping of Nala’s / River’s, Hiring of Machinery etc. The work will be carried out through Art of Living (International Association For Human Values). The work will be supervised by the Technical expert committee under the Chairmanship of District Collector

    The JNPT has released the CSR funds for the above activity as follows :-

    2. School Activities:

    The two schools with pre-primary, primary and secondary school, both English, and Marathi medium in the Port Township, which is catering to the need of the children of the port employees and also the children of the Project Affected Persons (PAPs), who reside in the nearby villages. A concession of 50% of the fees is being extended to the children of PAPs.

     

    3. Promotion of Tourism:

    In order to promote the tourism, the Port has awarded a contract to M/s. Scania for supply and maintenance of one Amphibious Bus to be used at Girgaon, Chowpati, at a cost of Rs. 4.08 Crores. The MOU was signed between JNPT and Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation for operation Amphibious Bus service in Mumbai City.

    1. To boost the tourism business in the Mumbai region as a part of corporate social responsibility, JNPT has taken up the project of an Amphibious Bus having capacity of 50 passengers.  The Amphibious Bus is specially designed a product which can run on land as a normal bus and it can also propel in the water as a boat.
    2. To procure the Amphibious Bus, JNPT has placed work order on M/s. Scania Commercial Vehicles India Pvt. Ltd. a Sweden-based automobile manufacturer for Supply of an Amphibious Bus.
    3. To operate Amphibious Bus, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) and Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. (MTDC) is entered into an understanding for the successful operation of an Amphibious Bus at Marine Drive area, Girgaon Chawpaty at Mumbai.
