Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust registered a throughput of 3,52,735 TEUs in container handling in Aug 2020 as against 3,44,316 TEUs handled in July 2020. The overall traffic handled at JNPT during the month of August-2020 was 4.74 million tons as against 5.68 million tons in Aug-2019. Despite the various challenges faced, JNPT handled a noteworthy 1,643,784 TEUs and 694 vessels in the lockdown period till 31st August 2020.
The total traffic handled at JNPT during the FY 2019-20 was 68.45 million tons as against 70.71 million tons in FY 2018-19, which is 3.19% less than the total traffic over the same period last year. This year’s traffic includes 7.51 million tons of Bulk Cargo as against 8.59 million tons in same period last year
In terms of TEUs, JNPT handled 5,031,187 TEUs during the FY 2019-20. The container traffic is reduced by 1.99% over the last year. Out of this, 718,863 TEUs were handled at JNPCT (Variation over Last Year: -31.95%), 531,354 TEUs at NSICT (Variation over Last Year: -5.23%), 1,985,473 TEUs at APMT (Variation over Last Year: -3.07%), 986,624 TEUs at NSIGT (Variation over Last Year: +4.11%), and remaining 808,873 (Variation over Last Year: +55.51%) TEUs handled by a PSA’s Terminal, BMCTPL.
The delivery of Import containers under the head Direct Port Delivery (DPD) has increased from 42.42 % in FY 2018-19 to 56.76% in FY 2019-20.
The entry of Export containers under the head Direct Port Entry (DPE) was 50.52% of the Total Factory Stuff Containers received.
