    PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS

    JAWAHARLAL NEHRU PORT TRUST

    • First time in the Indian Port History, JN Port handled the biggest vessel of 13,119 TEUs capacity, MSC Cristina of 365.96 metres length at its Nhava Sheva (India) Gateway Terminal (NSIGT). The vessel berthed on 1st April 2016 at 14:30 hrs and sailed on 2nd April, 2016 at 14:25 hrs.
    • JN Port handled the longest vessels during Financial Year 2015-16, MSC Francesca at NSICT of 363.6 metres length at its Nhava Sheva (India) Gateway Terminal (NSIGT). The vessel berthed on 18th March 2016 at 16:15 hrs and sailed on 19th March 2016 16:35 hrs.
    • Port owned container terminal JNPCT, handled container traffic of 133,208 TEUs in April-2016, which is highest ever since inception of the port.

    JN Port Traffic:

    Total Traffic:

    • Jawaharlal Nehru Port handled 64.03 million tonnes of cargo during Financial Year    2015-16. The growth in the total traffic is 0.35% as compared to the previous year’s traffic of 63.80 million tonnes.
    • Out of the 64.03 million tonnes of total cargo handled during the financial year 2015-16, the containerized cargo was 56.79 million tonnes (88.70%), liquid cargo was 6.50 million tonnes (10.16%) & remaining 0.73 million tonnes (1.14%) was miscellaneous types of dry bulk cargo/break bulk cargo.  
    • Total Income for the FY 2015-16 was Rs.1,989.68 crores as against previous year’s Rs.1,809.41 crores, registering growth of 9.96%. Net Surplus was Rs.718.68 crores as against previous year’s Rs.556.09 crores. The Net Surplus was grown by 29.24% over previous year.

    Container Traffic:

    • JN Port handled 4.49 million TEUs of container traffic during the financial year 2015-16, which is the highest ever container traffic since inception of the port. The growth in container traffic is 0.56% over the previous year’s container traffic of 4.47 million TEUs.
    • Out of the total traffic of 4.49 million TEUs, the share of JNPCT was 1.43 million TEUs (31.82%), the share of NSICT was 0.999 million TEUs (22.26%), The share of NSIGT was 0.20 million TEUs (4.50%) and the remaining 1.86 million TEUs (41.42%) were contributed by M/s. APM Terminals.
    • Port owned container terminal JNPCT, handled 1.43 million TEUs in Year 2015-16 as compared to previous year’s 1.29 million TEUs which and registered a growth of 10.45% in terms of TEUs and 12.73% in terms of tonnage.  
    • JNPCT set an all-time high record container handling of 1.43 million TEUs since its inception by surpassing previous record 1.34 million TEUs in 2005-06.
    • Container Traffic at Shallow Water Berth increased from 72,308 TEUs in 2014-15 to 107,288 TEUs in 2015-16 with a remarkable growth of 48.38% in terms of TEUs and 83.19% in terms of container tonnage. Total traffic handled at Shallow Water Berth was 2.59 million tonnes as against 1.87 million tonnes with a growth of 38.66%.
    • DP World’s two Container Terminals NSICT and NSIGT combine together handled 1.20 million TEUs as compared to previous year’s 1.16 million TEUs and registered a growth of 3.60% in terms of TEUs and 2.72% in terms of tonnage.
    • Port also handled 6.50 million tonnes of Liquid traffic which is 5.09% higher than the previous year’s 6.19 million tonnes. Total bulk traffic including Dry Bulk and Break Bulk for the year 2015-16 is 7.24 million tonnes as compared to last year’s 6.87 million tonnes, which show a growth of 5.37%.

    Highlights - Qualitative Performance of JNPCT:

    Productivity  

    • Average Berth Productivity increased by 8.44% from 59.92 moves per hour in 2014-15 to 64.98 moves per hour in 2015-16.
    • Average Crane Productivity increased by 5.07% from 17.17 moves per hour in 2014-15 to 18.04 moves per hour in 2015-16.

    Average Stay at Berth  

    • Average Stay at Berth was improved by 7.74% to 1.43 days in FY 2015-16 as compared to 1.55 days in the previous year.

    Average Turn Round Time on Port Account and Berth Stay. 

    • Average turn round time of JN Port on Port account is 1.71 days improved by 6.04% as compared to previous year’s (FY 2014-15) 1.82 days.

    Average Output per Ship Birth Day. 

    • Average Output per Ship Birth Day is increased from 23,980 tonnes in 2014-15 to  26,081 tonnes in 2015-16 registering a growth of 8.76%.
